Payment Technology Providers Step in to Assist Affected Restaurant Businesses

Indeed, the world wasn’t ready for a pandemic like the novel COVID-19, but it’s inspiring how swiftly we’ve responded to these desperate moments.

For instance, recently, POS (point of sale) system vendors stepped in to assist affected retailers who run restaurant-related businesses.

This was a bold move considering that the hospitality sector has suffered the most due to the new social distancing rules.

Recent findings from CardFlight’s Small Business Impact Report indicate the sales for hospitality-related businesses—restaurants and beverage stores— plummeted nearly 37 percent in March.

And now, TouchBistro Inc. has rolled out a set of products and services that will help food businesses weather the storms of the stay-at-home regulations amid Coronavirus.

The company, which offers payment solutions for food businesses, set underway their Restaurant Recovery Navigator, which food sellers can now utilize to their advantage.

Apart from the game-changing Navigator, TouchBistro has also introduced a gift card program and promised to arrange an online delivery service for proprietors by mid-May. And more interestingly, all customers who subscribe will enjoy one year of free-of-charge services.

“As we speak, restaurant establishments are dealing with a heavy burden of lost revenues. Still, many continue to invent creative ways to reach out to customers, deliver food, and share with their neighborhoods,” said Alex Barrotti, Creator and CEO of TouchBistro.

More Support from Payment Providers

Meanwhile, Allentown-based Shift4 Payments LLC has been monitoring the count of transactions for the hospitality segment to measure the effects of the stay-at-home policy.

The payments expert gives a day-to-day update. And the latest data show the count of restaurant transactions have dipped 78 percent from week 1 of Feb.

To complement the efforts of the Great American Takeout, Shift4 has set aside a $5,000 award to a winning individual who posts a pic of their takeout meal in the various social media platforms.

The Great American Takeout is a multi-company project that seeks to encourage US citizens to go for delivery foods amid Corona.

Wrap Up

Hopefully, the Great American Takeout and these efforts by payment providers will help restaurants survive through COVID-19 pandemic.
